Red Cross service helps people through heatwave

COMMUNITIES and Social Inclusion Minister Zoe Bettison is urging vulnerable South Australian’s or their families to register with the Red Cross Telecross REDi service ahead of this week’s forecast of extreme hot weather.

During extreme heat events trained Telecross REDi service volunteers phone registered clients up to three times a day to check on their wellbeing and activate an emergency response if required.

Older people, people with a disability, those experiencing mental illness, people recovering from an illness or accident, or anyone with an ongoing illness or health condition can be particularly at risk during very hot weather.
